Our Vows

In honor of our third anniversary, I thought I would share our vows! 7.19.14

Dear Damaris,

Today, like New York Yankee Legend Lou Gehrig once said,  I consider myself the luckiest man on the face of the Earth. It might be a cliché thing to say, but it’s how I feel. I thank you for saying yes and I thank you for being you. I thank you for being my friend, companion, and today my wife. I vow on this day to love, cherish, support, care, and be by your side for ever and ever. No matter what. When things look bright or gloom, even when Little Lady Katy goes Ka-boom! We embark on a new chapter of our lives and I could not find a better co-captain to accompany me. I don’t know what will happen, but with you by my side… we can take it on! I love you! TE AMO, HOY, MAÑANA, Y SIEMPRE!

Dear Sam,

I remember when I was younger, I felt unlovable. I would say that people weren’t capable of loving me because of who I am. I would pray and ask God: “Please just give me a man who loves me for me.” My prayers were answered when I met you. I always tell people that you loved me from day one… It just took you a month to say it and when you did, I will never forget your words. Not only did you tell me you loved me for who I am, but you thanked me for being me. And though I had never trusted anyone with my heart before; I knew I could trust you. That’s why when you told me you loved me, my answer was: “I believe you.” AndI can still say, not only have you loved me from day one, but you have loved me faithfully every day since. I see God’s love reflected in the way you love me: selflessly, sacrificially! The way Christ loves the Church; the way that you love yourself! My vow is to love you that way and to care for your heart the way that you’ve cared for mine. I vow to respect you for the godly man you are and to be your ideal helper in the way that God has called. I vow to stand by you, come what may, so that together we can face whatever lies ahead.
