My husband, Sam, works for a hotel. I love it because we get really great discounts (I’m talking 25 $ a night). Lately, however, we’ve been feeling the terrifying call of full time ministry. Sam and I are Pastor’s kids, so we were pretty much raised in the ministry and we are in no hurry to go out and Pastor a church of our own.
Sam recently applied for a promotion. I had no doubt in my mind that he would be offered the position, but I was disappointed to hear that his new schedule would conflict with our church service times. I reminded him that WWE’s Shawn Michaels, risked losing millions of dollars, so as to not miss Tuesday night Bible Study.
Sam reassured me that he could always change his schedule later on, but I began to pray. Now, he’s been working for this hotel for over a year with no problem, but all of sudden, they’re finding fault with everything that he does. They ended up demoting him and to be honest, I couldn’t be more grateful.
I would much rather have spiritual stability than financial stability. The Bible says: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” He asked them to move him to part time earlier this week, so that he could have Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays off.
It was a bold move on Sam’s part, one I’m sure he “wrestled” with (pun intended), but I am so excited to see God’s purpose for our lives unfold as we venture into the world of full-time ministry. If you’re reading this, please keep us in prayer. This is only the beginning of even greater testimonies.
